The team will also be serving afterwards at the church picnic by setting up and grilling food.

The team consists of the following.

Lee Kemp
Hudson Kemp
Derek Inouye
John Pearson
Margie Wilcoxen
Wayne Bragg
Cindy Bragg

It was great to be a part of the initial Crossroads “Extreme team” this weekend in Birmingham. MANY THANKS to all who faithfully prayed for us, for Brent and Lauren Birch and the rest of the ministry and community in Birmingham, and above all for God’s will to be done there… a tremendously successful weekend in my view, and not from any standpoint of saying “hey, look what these folks from Crossroads in Lexington did”, but through the encouragement of many who are able to testify “wow, God is so good!”

The basic work consisted of canvassing the surrounding shopping mall areas on Saturday to pass out flyer invitations to the church’s official “grand opening” service, providing support during Sunday’s service (set-up, traffic flow, childcare, etc.) and a post-service cookout. I know that the entire core of the Church at the Well appreciated the extra hands and feet. For our team, there was a real peace and satisfying sense of affirmation that numerous seeds for the Kingdom of God were sown on fertile soil.

I couldn’t help but constantly reflect on those days back on Arbor Court – when Lauren was a high schooler growing up in a Crossroads community not unlike the one that she and Brent have now been called to help lead – and envision the smile on the face of Jesus… a great big smile that was reacting to the same memories as I was, and one that was pleased with a good day’s work, but also one that already knew of what was to come of it all and how the rest of us would be amazed when we found out too someday!

I hope to hear of many stories by many others who’ll participate in similar excursions in the future… God is already smiling again at the very thought of it too.

Blessings, Derek.

Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers this past weekend while we were serving in Birmingham. The Extreme Team had an awesome experience. The Lord really seemed to work as the lives of people were touched in Birmingham when we were passing out flyers. The visitors and regular attenders at The Well were encouraged and received prayer. There was also the community among our team members that was deepened as we laughed, shared and prayed with each other.

I just wanted to share how important your prayers and the prayers of our church were to the protection and impact of our team. Our prayers are vital. God only knows!
Thanks again...God is amazing!!!!

With Spirit to Serve,
Laurette

This is my first effort in responding to a "blog", so bear with me.
First I want to thank all those who participated in the Extreme Team to B'ham. Brent & Lauren and those involved with Church at the Well were overwhelmed with the blessings they received from all of you. During a time that would have put a strain on all the regular attenders at The Well, Crossroads stepped in and filled a great need! I believe the blessings from this past weekend on the Well will continue to have a rippling effect for a very long time.
Secondly, I want to thank all of those who prayed for this team. Someone once told me that prayers are the traintrack and God is the train. Your prayers laid the tracks for God to move this team in such a special way.

Derek is so right when he expressed the similarities between The Church at the Well and Crossroads in the early days. Who would know that God was preparing that young girl's heart to someday experience a church plant in her adult life?

This extreme team weekend is very special to my heart because it ministered not only to a church but also to a family and body of believers that are in my prayers daily.

Thank you!

From all of the leaders at The Well, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your help and hard work this past weekend. It was such a relief to have extra help on such a busy weekend. You have no idea what it meant to all of us to have the support to make such a successful grand opening service. We felt so good about how everything went, and we know that it was in large part due to your availability to be used by God in any way needed. Thank you!!! We are truely touched by your graciousness to think of us and come down and help. We hope we can be a blessing to others the way you all have been to us.
Love,
Brent and Lauren Birch
