New Year!

It's 2008! The old year is gone, taking with it all of the regrets, missed opportunities and bad juju of the last 365 days.

So now you've got a blank slate. A clean piece of paper. A fresh start. What are you gonna do with it?

I don't go in much for resolutions as they carry a connotation of "doomed to fail" in most people's minds. But I do believe in setting goals and taking advantage of fresh starts.

So what's 2008 gonna look like for you? What's gonna be different?

I have big plans, including: Getting married, selling a house, buying a house, and making some serious career decisions. In addition to the big stuff I'd like to make this a year with lots of creative output on my part - lots of making things and new ideas.

Now tell me about you. What do you want this year to look like? What do you want to see happen in your life?

Since everybody's still contemplating Patrick's questions I thought I'd jump in with my thoughts on '08.

Like many others, I have the tendency to put others before me, often losing sight of my own goals and needs. This year is going to involve some "me" time.

1) Live life a la Dave Ramsey. I haven't officially gone through FPU but I ordered the envelope system and made a budget. ALready working on the baby steps.

2) Get back in the gym and live a healthier lifestyle. Too much running, fast food, and no gym membership have led to a 50 lb weight gain in the last 5 years. Moderation is my word for the year.

3) Stimulate my brain. I commit to taking at least one night class beginning fall semester to get the old brain cells moving.

4) Feed my soul. Find time daily to read the Bible and converse with God.

Lofty goal all around, but hey...you've got to set the bar somewhere, right?
